Little Canada is a high detailed and animated journey through Canada in miniature.  This permanent attraction will open in summer 2020 in the heart of downtown Toronto. Our goal is to be a top 10 attraction in the GTA, with anticipated attendance of over 500,000/year.

 Job Overview


The Launch Project Manager leads the overall coordination of activities to get us to a summer 2020 launch.  They use a structure, systems and processes based on the professional project management standards of the Project Management Institute.  The Launch Project Manager plans and oversees projects with responsibility for schedule, budget, quality, resources, procurement, vendor management and communications.  Specifically, the Project Manager facilitates the work of the Experience Designer, Architect, and General Contractor selected by Little Canada, and coordinates the Programming and Operations Development work of the Leadership Team, to ensure all aspects of the facility prep, new construction, experience and operations integration are planned, developed and completed in a coordinated and efficient way. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Based on the project site, lead all aspects of the scope of work for the project by guiding and facilitating the work of all teams and vendor partners responsible for bringing the Little Canada experience to life. 

  • Establish a typical project development process for a multi-disciplinary project in order to align all team member scopes and schedules: ensuring the project progresses through design development, production/construction/fabrication as well as site prep, facility integration, installation and testing and commissioning. 

  • Set-up and manage the master project schedule, coordinate with GM and team regarding opening day and soft opening activities

  • Manage the master project budget, coordinate with GM and team regarding opening day and soft opening activities

  • Manage the overall project quality to ensure all work product aligns with the established guest experience expectations. 

  • Directs coordination of scope between the Experience Designer, Architect, and GC.

  • Coordinates with the Build Team to move their work forward according to the master project schedule and that agreed facility integration requirements are met.

  • Ensures the building will be ready to receive all experience elements on the agreed date.  Prepares for site mobilization (readiness for install, staff move-in, systems install, FF&E delivery to site)

  • Coordinates with the Build team to plan and support the installation of Destinations including: Move destinations to site; installation of destinations and related experience components; Commissioning of animation, AVL, SFX

  • Coordinates with the Marketing Team to oversee the development of programming, including retail, café, events and education

  • Coordinates with the Operations Team to oversee install of ops systems including CCTV, ticketing, POS, prep of staff offices and BOH areas

  • Coordinates with all vendors for testing, commissioning & training

 Qualifications and Experience 

  • Degree in Project Management or a related field, or equivalent work experience.  PMP designation preferred.

  • 10 + years experience as a project manager, previous experience in planning and executing installation of a new attraction, exhibit or similar complex project into an existing building.

  • Demonstrated success in leading and aligning a multi-disciplinary team across varying levels of responsibility including architects, general contractors, experience designers and multiple specialty vendors.

  • Experience working in the City of Toronto and familiarity with the building department and permit requirements would be an asset.

  • Demonstrated success in bringing projects in on budget and on schedule.

  • Demonstrated ability to interface with multiple external stakeholder groups

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to develop and deliver presentations to large groups

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, particularly Word, Excel and Project or other scheduling tools

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills; ability to build rapport and work collaboratively

  • Excellent organizational skills; able to plan and deliver against large pieces of work

 Working Conditions


  • Based at Mississauga pilot site to start, with transition to downtown Toronto permanent site over launch timeline, and travel between the two sites as reqired

  • Office work will require long period of sitting

  • Walking, standing and interacting with trades will be required during site prep, instruction and installation phases

  • Long days and weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines

  • Travel throughout the GTA to meetings and presentations will be required
